Patrick's AlgerPong!! Patrick's AlgerPong!!

This is my simple version of everyone's favorite game, Pong. This was originally developed as a "Hey, can you make a game in two days?" style test. The original version was two-player only, but I decided to make it one or two player. It was shelved for a while, but I came up with an interesting AI routine and decided to try it out. I liked the result well enough that I decided to share the game with the world.

The Panamator The Panamator

"The Panamator" is Patrick Algermissen's 3D Animation Export Utility Plugin for 3D Studio MAX. It allows the artist to create all animations for a character/object in MAX, and then specify which keyframes correspond to each animation (ie, "Walk Cycle: Frames 1-10, looping; Sword Swing: Frames 11-21, not looping; etc.". The utility exports each object in its own local matrix, based on an artist-specified static frame, complete with hierarchy information and animation information sampled at each keyframe. Exports data for position, rotation (via quaternions), and scale.

The Panamator is being developed concurrently with C++ classes that load the .pan files created by the utility and plays back the animations via OpenGL. The loader class handles both looping and non-looping animations, quaternion interpolation via SLERP for the rotations, linear interpolation for position and scale, and allows for seamless transition between animations. In fact, you can seamlessly transition to any animation (or the static frame) even while another animation is in the middle of playing!

Gameboy Advance Gameboy Advance

Patrick Algermissen wanted to have experience programming on a commercial console in wide use today, and the GBA is the only one that allows homebrew programmers to play their creations on actual hardware for an affordible price. Patrick has written several trivial programs for the machine, and loves seeing his work on the real hardware.

By the by, I didn't take that picture of the GBA displayed at the left.  I'm no longer sure where I got it from, so if it's yours, I apologize.

Quidditch 3D Quidditch 3D

Now you can play a 3D, OpenGL, Windows version of the hottest game in the wizarding world!

This is Nameless Enteractive's first real attempt at a game.  During the 1990's, we made several board games and old-school Sierra style games in Visual Basic, but the new millineum brought us a college degree and the will to do this professionally.  Quidditch seemed an obvious choice as a first attempt at 3D game programming, and the result - even though its horribly rough - has gotten praise beyond my wildest imagination.

Quidditch.com says "If you're only going to try one game, this is the one."  Another fan said to me that of all the Quidditch games out there, mine is the only one that comes close to capturing true Quidditch.

The game, for those that have never seen that funky looking Q word before, is based on a game played in the Harry Potter books (and, now, movies).  The game is played on flying broomsticks high above the ground.  In this version, each team has 2 players -- a "chaser" and a "seeker."  The chaser attempts to get a red ball called the Quaffle into the goal at 10 points a pop.  The seeker is always looking for the Snitch, which is a tiny, fast-moving gold ball worth 150 points.  The game doesn't end until the Snitch is caught.

Production on Quidditch 3D is currently at a stand-still while we work on Royal Blood, both the movie and the game.  Big apologies to all my devoted fans.  I will get back to this game in the future, though.
