Patrick is a founding member of the Orlando Chapter of Group 101.  Group 101 is a group of fledgling filmmakers dedicated to producing a brand new short film every 30 days.  That is, each of the Group's 20+ filmmakers are supposed to make their own film.  Every month.  All based on a common theme.  Patrick is the only member to make all 12 movies -- no excuses!  This marks Patick's in Group 101.

While Group 101 itself is continuing, all of the founding members have finished our 12 month run.  I am proud to have been a part of it, and I wish them all best of luck in the future.

See what Greenroom Orlando has to say about Harvester!

The Pity of Quiet Marin The Pity of Quiet Marin

Starring Patrick Algermissen, Jeff Goguen, and Kevin McGuire
Produced in 2001
Running Time: Approx. 15 minutes
Written and Directed by Patrick Algermissen

The story of a wandering minstrel destined to become a hero, and those that will never let him.  Quiet Marin is the company's first attempt at Fantasy, and overall something I'm quite proud of.  The movie features over 60 special effects shots, sword fights, magic, and betrayal.

Although praised by many as well acted and well shot, the film ultimately came up lacking in Art Direction.  We had hoped that, with everything else being top-notch, the audience would forgive us on the sets, but it turned out that everything else being top-notch made the bad sets stand out even more.  Lesson learned.

Clocky, Clocky Dudley

The Victim, Part II

Starring Kevin McGuire and "Dudley"
Produced in 2001
Running Time: Approx. 30 minutes
Written and Directed by Patrick Algermissen

The touching, life-affirming story of a man and his doll as he searches for answers and learns to love his wife all over again.
Sequel to Patrick Algermissen's acclaimed farce, "The Victim." Both motion pictures incorporate portions of existing popular films, placing the character into the major sequences of these films (thus making him the "victim" of these movies).

BEN - The Motion Picture

BEN - The Motion Picture

Starring Geoff Black and Kevin McGuire
Produced in 2000
Running Time: Approx. 20 minutes completed
Written and Directed by Patrick Algermissen

A piece of cinema history, which is now sadly defunct. BEN - The Motion Picture was, in fact, the very first parody of the new Star Wars movies. The script was written in 1997, a full two years before The Phantom Menace was released. Indeed, during the period of the script's writing, only rumors were known about the stories of the prequels. I believe this makes BEN:TMP the first pre-parody in history! It was orignally written for the stage as Star Warz: The First Generation, and the first act was performed at Brevard Community College to rave reviews in the spring of 1998. Sadly, this feature-length filmed version of all three acts was canned due to lack of resources (mainly actors and larger set-pieces, such as a molten moon and inter-galactic war-room). However, the company's experience on this project is what allowed us to seriously ramp-up our efforts upon becoming Nameless Entertainment. This was the proving ground that allowed Thundercats to have the level of CG needed to garner such a high place at Wizard World, and also The Pity Quiet Marin would have never been possible if not for this production. It is for these reasons that the defunct project is listed here.

The story tells of Kin Starkiller (Geoff Black), hot-shot space pilot and his meteoric rise to hero status during the Cologne Wars. His commanding general also happens to be Jed-Eye Knight, Obey-Yon "Ben" Shinobi (Kevin McGuire), who trains him in the ways of the Forks. His greed for power, and the evil of a politician named Nicotine (Sam Foutch), cause him to slowly descend to the darker-side of the Forks, and ultimately claim co-leadership of the evil Jed-Eyes known as The Dark Lords of the Dance.

Splinter

Splinter

Starring Clare Gavel and Anthony DeTrano
Produced in 1999
Running Time: Approx. 10 minutes
Written and Directed by Patrick Algermissen

The last of the company's series of  "10-Minute-Masterpieces."  Splinter is the mind boggling tale of the devil's attempt to drive the world most happily married couple into divorce, or murder.  The devil (Kevin McGuire) enters into the mind of married Mike (DeTrano) and Michelle (Gavel), creating a splinter in reality.  The movie intercuts between these two realities, where the same events are occuring, but to different people.  The couple's survival depends on what is stronger: all the hatred of Hell, or the burning flames of their love.

The Victim

The Victim

Starring Kevin McGuire
Produced in 1998
Running Time: Approx. 10 minutes
Written and Directed by Patrick Algermissen

Acclaimed farce of a married man, simply going through life. The humor is completely character driven. The movie is intercut with famous scenes from other movies, all of which our hero James Eeyore (McGuire) stumbles through obliviously as he attempts to simply exist.

Silent

Silent

Starring Sue-Lynn Chu
Produced in 1997
Running Time: Approx. 10 minutes
Written and Directed by Patrick Algermissen

The first serious movie produced by the company. Due to sound trouble on The Other Side, the company decided a silent film would be the next best step. This also shifted the focus entirely to the visuals, which necessitated a stronger sense of composition as well as much, much stronger performances for the actors.  All of this was further enhanced by a haunting original score by Wayne Yon.

The story was based on the idea of "Friday the 13th where you follow Jason." This provided a much different, much eerier context for what would otherwise have been a standard slasher flick. Instead, we follow Di (Sue-Lynn Chu) as she discovers the man who raped her years before, and follows him back to his home. That night, she breaks in, armed with an axe and a knife, ready to free herself from the haunting images of that fateful night, and to finally cause the laughter in her memories to fall silent.

The Other Side

The Other Side

Starring Patrick Algermissen, Kevin McGuire, Chelsea Ferrell, and Tasha Daughtry
Produced in 1997
Running Time: Approx. 15 minutes
Written and Directed by Patrick Algermissen

The very first production. This was director Algermissen's first teaming with key player Kevin McGuire, a man whose loyalty and dedication has helped make Nameless Entertainment what it is today. The movie is a little rough and uneven, as the director had not yet got his feet wet with how to run a production. Despite all the usual first-film problems, a unique and unprecedented visual style was invented for the film. Rather than using conventional cut-aways, the film simply lays comic-book style panels over top of the main action, allowing the viewer to see the action in close-up and full frame simultaneously.

The style was unique, but the story was a simple tale of two roommates and their attempt to switch the girls they are dating, who also happen to be roommates.  Very special thanks to Eric van Ormer and Mike LaRocque for allowing us to shoot at their Ground Zero Coffee Pub.
